abstract
  • Alexander was the name of a German Shepherd dog given to nine-year-old Kieran Duffy in 2341. He was named after the historical figure Alexander the Great, in part because of his size -- nearly twice Kieran's height when he stood on his rear legs. Alexander was an exuberant animal, and as such had to be tied to a tree in the Duffy backyard. However, he broke free of his tether several times, leading Kieran's mother Christa to nickname him "the Houdini of dogs." The family soon realized they could not keep Alexander in such conditions, and he was given to the owner of an apple orchard in New England. (SCE eBook: Wildfire, Book 2)
