| - The United Nations Directorate (UND), colloquially known as the United Nations, was the primary peacetime government of the Human sphere in the decades following the First Great War. It was known to operate in tandem with the powerful United Nations Space Command. Formed in 2553, the reformed United Nations aimed make up for the loss of a crippled and defunct Unified Earth Government as well as assume a number of powers released by the UNSC after its emergency military junta-oligarchy ceased ongoing operations. The Directorate actively maintained both a regular military and a colonial militia, respectively known as the Colonial Security Command and the Peacekeepers. While both were inferior in discipline, technology, and size to the UNSC Defense Force, they were nevertheless a competent security force. In times of war or crisis, the UNSC boasted the power to assume control of both the CSC and Peacekeeper Army, though this ability was seldom exercised.
