The Uralican Alphabet Reforms were passed not long after Hungarian became an official language, as a way for all Uralicans to be able to read the language, and all of the other official languages of Uralica. This is because some of the languages of Uralica were exclusively monoalphabetic at the time - for example, English, Finnish, Hungarian, and Plautdietsch had no Cyrillic equivalent, while Komi, Moksha, Erzya, Udmurt, Khanty and Mansi had no Latin equivalent.
