He and his son, Russell Meineke, bought weapons from SAMCRO and used them to ambush a prison convoy to free one of their members. They then planned to go into hiding in Mexico. However, the Sons of Anarchy killed an unknown number of them with the use of remotely triggered explosives. The militia wanted additional weapons and SAMCRO delivered the arms hidden in bags which also housed the explosives. When Meineke and his members took the weapons out of range, Opie detonated explosives, presumably killing most if not all the Militia and damaging their hideout bunker. SAMCRO acted in retaliation, as they had brought unwanted attention to Charming and the club with the shootings.
