While they do some good things such as being involved with the Special Olympics, doing Tootsie Roll drives for mentally disabled people, they have been known to be divisive especially in areas where divisions run rampant. They're not supposed to even be a partisan or political organization, much less ones to endorse any candidates for office, they committed a double standard by letting George W. Bush speak at their annual convention, George H.W. Bush had come to their convention during the 1992 U.S. Presidential Election. Yet, they didn't even think to invite John Kerry because of his Pro-choice position, even though Kerry is a good Catholic and better Christian than the Bushes. The Knights adopted a strongly Pro-life position, are also active in trying to ban the right to same-sex marriage, and are OK with violating the separation of church and state, such as promoting the "Keep Christ in Christmas" slogans, see War on Christmas. They were also responsible for having the "under God" added to the Pledge of Allegiance. When they got involved with the Proposition 8 ballot in California, they made the "Dishonor Roll". Funny that John Dingell is a member of the Knights of Columbus and so was Sargent Shriver and Ted Kennedy.
