Max Smith (January 23, 1913 – July 23, 1999) was an American playback singer who provided a voice or singing voice in many films, for actors in musicals and for many Disney characters. As the 2nd tenor member of The Mellomen from 1948 to 1966, he provided the voices of a card painter in Alice in Wonderland, one of the pirates and Indians in Peter Pan, backup singer of the song "A Whale of a Tale" from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, one of the dogs in the pound in Lady and the Tramp, sang with the Mellomen as a part of a chorus on the soundtrack of Sleeping Beauty, additional voices in One Hundred and One Dalmatians and classic Disney animated shorts, such as The Nifty Nineties, Trick or Treat, Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom, Pigs is Pigs, Paul Bunyan, Noah's Ark and Donald and the Wheel (as
