From the Wikipedia page [1] Barnsley Archives and Local Studies exists to preserve and make available the documentary heritage of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley. Situated on the top floor of Barnsley Central Library on Shambles Street, the department was formed in 1998, following the merger of the Archives Department and the Local Studies Library. The Local Studies Library had existed for a century, whereas the Archives Department had only been set up in 1987, following the cessation of South Yorkshire County Council. The website is [2]
