| - The Brewster Bulldogs are a minor league hockey team based out of the Brewster Ice Arena in Brewster, New York. The team is a member of the Federal Hockey League. The team was announced to play for the 2015-16 season. The team was announced about a month after the Danbury Whalers were left homeless when the management of the Danbury Ice Arena notified the team in Mid-April 2015 that their lease was not being renewed and they were given an eviction notice for the end of the month. The team is a new organization not a continuation of the Danbury franchise as the name hints at and the fact that the two cities are only about 10 miles/16km apart. In the [1] announcement of the team in Brewster, league commissioner, Don Kirnan stated "The official position on the Danbury Whalers is that the team is a member of the Federal Hockey League in good standing that is on in-active status. They are at an impasse with their landlord the Danbury Ice Arena. In an effort to continue their commitment to the Federal Hockey League, the team has waived their territorial and naming rights to the Brewster franchise. We back and support our league member & partners.” The team was originally named the Stateline Whalers but were renamed in mid-July. The team is a co-tenant in the Brewster Arena with the junior level New York Apple Core, the Westchester Express, Brewster Bulldogs youth hockey and ten local high school hockey teams.
