On December 4, 2011, the event was held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, attended by a large number of celebrities, among them surprise guest Miss Piggy. Other celebrities that appeared that night include Amy Adams, Christina Applegate, Geoffrey Arend, Will Arnett, Dustin Lance Black, Matt Bomer, Julie Bowen, Eddie Cibrian, Chris Colfer, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Fergie, David Furbish, Mischa Gabriel, Camille Grammer, Ryan Guzman, Christina Hendricks, Rashida Jones, Ricki Lake, Joe Manganiello, Kathryn McCormick, Michelle Pfeiffer, Amy Poehler, Zachary Quinto, Kyle Richards, Zoe Saldana, Eric Stonestreet, Adam Shankman, Paul Wesley, and some of the cast of Glee (Dianna Agron, Jayma Mays, Damian McGinty, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Naya Rivera, Harry Shum, Mark Salling), as well as performances by Kris Allen, Mary J. Blige, Diego Boneta, Darren Criss, Miley Cyrus, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Barrett Foa, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Julianne Hough, Queen Latifah, LeAnn Rimes, and Glee's Amber Riley. Special awards honorees were Lady Gaga and Google. The project has further been supported by Ellen DeGeneres, Daniel Radcliffe, James Marsden, Kim Kardashian, and George Takei.

The Trevor Project maintains a Los Angeles and San Francisco Call Center, managed by its partners at San Francisco Suicide Prevention, all calls are handled by trained counselors, are free and confidential. In the fall of 2007, the Trevor Project opened a New York Call Center, named after the late Randy Stone, evincing growth for the organization.
