Hailing from Coruscant, Ukano was a nobleman who was among the earliest supporters of Palpatine (as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic). His wife gave birth to a daughter, Mai, in 21 BBY. He became a staunch supporter of the New Order after Palpatine declared himself Emperor and tried to raise Mai to be an Imperial loyalist. Also during the early years of the Empire's existence, Ukano became a good friend and associate of Moff Ozai Tokugawa.

Hailing from Coruscant, Ukano was a nobleman who was among the earliest supporters of Palpatine (as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic). His wife gave birth to a daughter, Mai, in 21 BBY. He became a staunch supporter of the New Order after Palpatine declared himself Emperor and tried to raise Mai to be an Imperial loyalist. Also during the early years of the Empire's existence, Ukano became a good friend and associate of Moff Ozai Tokugawa. In an effort to show her the power of the Empire, Ukano took Mai and her close friend, Ty Lee, on an inspection of the Death Star. Mai and her friend ended up both defecting to the Rebellion and abandoned the station with other disillusioned Imperials as well as escaped prisoners. Ukano remained onboard and was killed during the Battle of Yavin, when the station was destroyed.
