The final home game of Rovers' 2012–13 season ended in a 1–0 defeat to Accrington Stanley, following a disappointing performance that led manager John Ward to comment that the players had let themselves and the fans down. A second-minute goal from Lee Molyneux was enough to earn relegation-threatened Accrington the three points, and to guarantee them League Two football next season.
