  • Established in the middle of the 1500s, the British Empire sought to bring the entire world under the yoke of Imperialism. A fatal flaw in this plan was that until the early 1900s there was no way to enforce this "gunboat diplomacy" because it hadn't been built. After conquering Africa and the Middle East, The British carefully created new countries by randomly drawing lines on a map. The peace and prosperity of both these regions today is a testiment to the brilliance of this strategy. The British empire is also the largest demographic for men with beards that eat bowtie pasta.

  • London was a key site of political negotiation over decolonisation and provided the backdrop for meetings in which new independent political relationships were performed. Commonwealth Staff Correspondent for the Times Bill Kirkman, remembers London as ‘a frenzy of activity’ in the early 1960s, with Constitutional Conferences about independence going on every few weeks at Lancaster House. In 1965, the Commonwealth Secretariat was set up with its Headquarters at Marlborough House on Pall Mall.

In 1965, the Commonwealth Secretariat was set up with its Headquarters at Marlborough House on Pall Mall. In 1958 Prime Minister Harold Macmillan spoke to the Royal Empire Society about his vision for the Commonwealth and highlighted themes of optimism, independence, and friendship. Over the space of twelve years, he said, ‘we have seen it change from the old Commonwealth of peoples of the same racial origin and traditions, into a different diverse, partnership’ (Macmillan, 1958, p54-5). He looked to counter negative attitudes that saw the end of empire in declinist terms. The Commonwealth, he declared, was a new concept, ‘a partnership of people varying among each other in almost every respect that it is possible to imagine. In July 1957, the Society hosted Kwame Nkrumah, Prime Minister of Ghana. This visit took place a mere three months after Ghana’s independence, and marked the first of many receptions held at the Society for dignitaries from newly independent countries. Once Nkrumah was co-opted into the political establishment and accepted as a Commonwealth leader, he was welcomed at the Society; indeed it was important for the Society to be seen to be providing hospitality to him. The image of the guests conversing together worked to present a vision of the Commonwealth as polite, welcoming and friendly, especially important as a few years before Nkrumah had been imprisoned by the British authorities in the Gold Coast. For the Commonwealth to succeed it had to be based on mutual regard amongst nations and on a smooth transition from Empire; disruptions to this performance threatened the association’s future viability.

After conquering Africa and the Middle East, The British carefully created new countries by randomly drawing lines on a map. The peace and prosperity of both these regions today is a testiment to the brilliance of this strategy. After a brief struggle, The British Empire slowly began to disintegrate. With the granting of independence to India in 1947, and the loss (i.e giving back) of Hong Kong in 1999, the British Empire consisted of the British Isles (apart from Northern Ireland and certain parts of Scotland) and a small plot of land behind the White House that had been sprinkled with British soil. It is likely that the sun has set on the British Empire and only old people remember the glory that was Britain before the Second World War. Though they will always be remembered as losing control to the greatest country in the world but not to Argentina who had their ass kicked in 1982 when they tried to take one of the remaining colonies. The British Empire was mostly responsible for the birth of the nation Canada. Without Canada the United States would not have a little brother to pick on. Canada still has many ties to the British empire. The British empire is also the largest demographic for tea drinkers and men who wear top hats. Note:The British Empire was so big it could only be put over two images.

Though they will always be remembered as losing control to the greatest country in the world but not to Argentina who had their ass kicked in 1982 when they tried to take one of the remaining colonies. What's left of the empire is Currently On Notice due to an unfortunate incident involving a portrait of George Washington at Sotheby's. Though, it was clear from its genesis that British Empire was destined to collapse. This was due to the inherently unjustified doctrines of Anglicism that it propagated, and its opposition to the supremacy of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. The British Empire was mostly responsible for the birth of the nation Canada. Without Canada the United States would not have a little brother to pick on. Canada still has many ties to the British empire. This should give us a fair idea why the Empire is on notice because it is responsible for much of the things on the "On Notice" list such as the Toronto Raptors and Grizzily Bears. The British empire is also the largest demographic for men with beards that eat bowtie pasta. NB: The British Empire was so big it could only be put over two images This article is a stub.
