'Twas the night before Christmas, And all through the ship, Not a deckhand was stirring, Not even the captain's upper lip. The Officer's were wrapped, All warm in their cots. While dreams of high winds, were not soon forgot. I myself was on watch that night. Watching the shores and waves. I viewed the shoreline's destructive blight, and decided to conciously stay. When out on the Aft there rose a clatter, I rose from my stool to see what was the matter. Away to the tail I raced with a flash, I trailed down the latter and managed not to crash. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, when there I saw.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh with eight tiny reindeer. With a little old driver so lively and quick, I failed to define this odd holiday trick. More rapid than seagulls his coursers came, He whistled and shouted and called them by name. Now Dasher, Now Dancer, Now Prancer and Vixen, On Comet, on Cupid, On Donner and Blitzen. To the top of the mast, to the top of the mess hall, Now dash away, dash away, dash away all! I honestly didn't know what to say at this point, I had never experienced this before. I wanted sit down and rest my joints, but I had to get to the Captain's floor. I heard a twinkling on the crow's nest, and in the galley below. The sailors had not had their rest, So alone is the way I go. I stumbled into the Captain's quarter's, when there I saw. A sight that frightened me, And nearly made me fall. A scraggly white beard sat atop the grand oak desk, But to whom it was owned, Was a figure so statuesque, Of the Jolliest and plumpest man ever known. He sat in the seat, All dressed in red. At a loss for words, I looked for a hype. He simply looked at me and said. "I travel the world", "From dusk until dawn", "But when I land on a ship full of drunken sailors", "I know the spirit isn't gone". With this he smiled and sprang to his sleigh. Sadly I wanted him to sit and to stay. But what I experienced that night I will always remember. For the the spirit of the holidays lives in December. I write this now, with all me might, to wish you all a Merry Christmas, And to all a Good Night.
