Brokefang's pack resides here and is unhappy with the duchess ruling it beacuse she is driving them from their home. The king does not know that the duke and duchess of Long Lake are planning to overtrow him because Yolane of Dunlath's lover, Tristan Staghorn, has a shield to keep anyone from leaving there. After Daine stops the duchess's plan, Maura, Yolane's younger sister, becomes heir to Dunlath, and with help from her mentor Douglass of Veldine, she makes Long Lake a paradise for humans, animals, and immortals alike.
