At some point, Cobraxis learned of a metal that, with just a little bit added to normal metal, could make amazingly strong weapons. With this in mind, Cobraxis led his army to Rockguard and engaged in battle with the dwarves. Two days later, confident that his frontline could hold off any meddlers, Cobraxis journeyed into Hammerynth with several of his closest lieutenants. Once there, the priests began to "wreck" the caverns by burning important texts and defiling the mourning mountains where the dwarves have lived for thousands of years. Cobraxis himself wished to ransack a creche but was confronted by Queen Silpantia-Dragontamer with a magic spear. It was secretly what Cobraxis wanted and the wily priest carried Silpantia away, demanding to know the location of the enchanted metal.

Camping high on a peak above the caverns, Cobraxis held Silpantia within a Cage of Snakes, threatening to crush the Queen should she refuse to divulge the location of the dwarves' hoarde. His interrogation was interrupted by news of the arrival of Gilius-Thunderhead and Yuki-Plantcharmer, two dwarf warriors coming to rescue the Queen. Sending Viprax to capture them, his subordinate came back with Yuki (with Gilius presumed dead). This gave Cobraxis a bargaining tool - either Silpantia tells him where the metal is or Yuki dies. Furious when Gilius eventually did turn up, the leader ordered his cage to crush Silpantia but this proved unsuccessful. The three snakes coiled around his neck turned into beastly warriors, but even these failed to protect him for long. It did, however, give him time to call forth his army, leading to a fierce battle between the humans and a dwarf/dragon alliance. Although initially unbelieving of the threat of dragons, Cobraxis was forced to adopt a new form when things started to get too much for him. Calling on the power of the Serpent God, Cobraxis turned into a massive snake and coiled around Cloudburner. Fortunately, this gave Gilius much more to aim for and one swing of the Golden Axe was enough to kill Cobraxis.
