The RG3EXFM1 features a basswood body with a flamed maple top and binding bolted to a maple Wizard II neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth position markers. Components include dual covered Ibanez Vintage humbucking pickups and a standard hard-tail bridge. The sharktooth (or Himalayan) inlays on the fretboard are a heritage mark of the RG models, having been used by Ibanez since the inception of the RG in the late '80s. The RG3EXFM1 was available in two finishes: Blackberry (a reddish color despite the name) and Transparent Gray Burst.
