| - Narrator: The delvers are in an eerie, ruined town, filled with ghosts and hauntings. They have just beat back a wave of angry ghosts, and fallen back a bit to rest and recover. GM: That seemed like the plan from last week. Wolfgang: "I'm tired. Let's rest for a vhile. Let me get my breath back." Beltarne: I'd rather not rush to meet possibly-angry-Scydd while below 1/3 FP, yes Shelley: Indeed. Shelley: It suddenly strikes me that I totally didn't think to ask Mark about repairing skeletons. GM: You can cast healing on them, I guess? Thasos: ((wouldn't that have the opposite affect?)) Shelley: (( Might need to be ME casting healing. )) GM: Hmmm. GM: DF9 p 25 says 'healing spells certainly don't work, nor do other spells or potions" GM: I have no idea why, that makes zero sense to me. But whatever. Marik: ((I'm happy to rule that healing spells DO work.)) Shelley: I argued with him about that in the playtest. It says in Unhealing that magical healing and stuff still works. GM: Shelley can cast Zombie on them as First Aid! And use Hidden Lore (Undead) to heal HP/10 points per day in the field. Marik: ((Or to create a Necromantic 'Heal Zombie' spell.)) Shelley: I can understand why it would be someone with the Zombie spell who should do it. Marik: ((Ooh, that works too.)) GM: The whole "Unholy Sanctum" thing is bunk, though. GM: Also, Shelly is badly wounded for those keeping track at home, and Wolfgang has some... uhm... well, his soul got sucked out a bit, that's not cool. Marik: Marik feels fine. Marik: He'd just like to point that out. Beltarne: So, retreat to Clyde and rest? Marik: Then we likely have to do that again. Beltarne: Und zen I do ze healing, jah? Beltarne: They may not come back until the next sunrise or sunset. May. Marik: "The ones we dispersed, almost certainly. But Shelley didn't say anything about a time limit for the half-dozen or so who simply ran away, hm? The chapel should be holy ground. Would that keep them out?" Shelley: (( sorry mom's on the phone )) Beltarne: Okay, either way first aid? Beltarne: First Aid/TL3 (Humanoid) (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [4,4,2] = 10 vs (15) or less Success! by 5 Conditional: +1 from 'First Aid Kit' Beltarne: For Shelley Beltarne: [1d6] => [4] = (4) Ghazeb: "Ghazeb will tend pretty lady... oh, fine, steal all the fun." Ted (enter): 17:11 Beltarne: And... can I apply bandages to soul sucking wounds? GM: People are resting and recovering. GM: Sure! Beltarne: Or is that a "healing magic only" type injury? Beltarne: First Aid/TL3 (Humanoid) (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [2,1,4] = 7 vs (15) or less Success! by 8 Conditional: +1 from 'First Aid Kit' Beltarne: [1d6] => [5] = (5) GM: Nope, it's just toxic + fatigue damage. Shelley: Zombie first aid in a second, hard to concentrate with my mom, taking a longer time to work. Beltarne: For Wolfgang Wolfgang: "I'm cured!" GM: Alright, so Shelly is mostly healed and Wolfgang is fully healed and 40 minutes pass, so recover fatigue for those low on fatigue. Beltarne: Done Beltarne: "I'm not sure the church will still be sanctified, Marik." Shelley: Zombie first aid! Shelley: Zombie (Deathly) (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [1,2,1] = 4 vs (16) or less Critical Success! by 12 [B556] for [0] => 0 FP Shelley: Zombie (Deathly) (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [5,3,5] = 13 vs (16) or less Success! by 3 Shelley: Only two zombies got squished, right? GM: One of the zombies is repaired for 7 points! GM: Right, Alpha and Delta. GM: The other is repaired for [1d6] => [2] = (2) points Shelley: Hurray! That's 8 HPs current for alpha, and 3 for Delta (They were both reduced to 1) Shelley: So, the other was daily Hidden Lore, which I assume I do at camp. GM: Another 20 minutes pass while Shelley tries to patch up Delta, who is still in bad shape. GM: Yes, Hidden Lore substitutes for Physician. Shelley: I have Surgeon, specifically for patching up undead, or making them out of spare parts, and for when I eventually graft a lich arm onto the stump which Im' pretty sure I'll suffer at some point. GM: Surgery instead of Hidden Lore is good. We'll talk. Wolfgang: ((As long as the stump isn't your neck)) Beltarne: ((That'd look funny)) GM: Eh, Soulcatcher managed it. GM: Anyway. Shelley: Oh, I was thinking about just Surgery for fixing crippling limbs. Thasos: ((Head of Vecna party pwn)) Beltarne: Well, we're mostly healed and rested. Shall we continue to the church Beltarne: ? GM: It's been an hour. Everyone is feeling rested. The place is still creepy and darker than it should be for the amount of sunlight streaming down. Shelley: And adding it to the list of skills I was making for fixing skeletons. "Zombie Spell. Hidden Lore. Surgery", that sort of thing. But yes. To the church! ** Thasos stands back up. ** GM: Move tokens back up. Is Shelley leaving Delta to stand guard over Clyde? Beltarne: ((Please)) GM: The temple is to the south, by the way. Move your tokens, don't get too separated. Ghazeb: "Ghazeb leads the way. What will we do about this Scydd ghost person?" ** Thasos struggles to not let Ghazeb get ahead of him. ** Narrator: As Ghazeb, Wolfgang, and Thasos jockey for position, they can see the temple ahead. Shelley: Uh, sure, Delta and Adam and Clyde. Narrator: It is a large structure of white and grey stone, faintly stained by old blood. GM: Hold up while I describe what you see, okay? Thasos: ((got carried away)) Narrator: 4 pillars hold up the roof, and 4 statues of the gods of the light support the corners. Narrator: The central floor of the temple is covered in ancient decayed bones, mostly unremarkable. Narrator: The only thing that catches the eye is a skeleton in a rusted suit of armor, lying face down in the middle of the temple. It looks to have been a faun when it was alive. Narrator: Floating above the faun is a pale spirit of a knight in armor. He is droning something but you can't quite make it out from where you stand. GM: By the way, -2 darkness penalty while you're in the dark area of the map. It's clearly an unnatural effect but people with Night Vision 2+ can ignore it. GM: Couple of trees... no other terrain penalties of note. GM: Okay, now you can do whatever you want to be doing. GM: Also, are Shelley and Marik staying that far back? Wolfgang: is the pale figure a faun too? Marik: Marik's advancing. GM: It looks like it, Wolfgang. Wolfgang: "Er, scydd wasn't a faun was he?" GM: The temple is beyond the Octagonal building, Marik. Ghazeb: "Ghazeb heard he was a foxman." Beltarne: "I don't believe so." Beltarne: "Well, who wants to ask him a question?" Marik: ((I see a Poltergeist.)) Wolfgang: "Well, you or Shelley are the experts" Despairing Ghost: "Darkness comes. Darkness always comes. I was a fool to fight against it. There is no hope. Only unending tormet. I know that now." GM: Also, Wolfgang can make a Will roll. Marik: ((I want to make sure he's supposed to be there before I yell 'AMBUSH!')) Wolfgang: Will (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [2,5,6] = 13 vs (10) or less Failure! by 3 GM: Yep, he's supposed to be there. Thasos: ((uh oh)) Beltarne: ((Oh, I'm sure it'll be fine.)) GM: Wolfgang, you have a -3 on all IQ, Perception, Will, and DX checks. And skills that depend on those checks. Shelley: Symtoms? Narrator: As Wolfgang advances, he feels a great deal of despair and ennui. Wolfgang: fear? Wolfgang: oh Wolfgang: can I luck that? whispering to Ted, The temple must be cursed! You need to destroy those statues! GM: Yes. Wolfgang: Will (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [4,2,2] = 8 vs (10) or less Success! by 2 Wolfgang: Will (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [5,2,5] = 12 vs (10) or less Failure! by 2 Marik: "AMBUSH!" ** Marik draws a silver arrow and moves to position for a shot. ** whispering to Shelley, The ghost in the center looks to be a despairing ghost. Standing too close to them makes you feel weepy and depressed. People die from it. whispering to Shelley, You should be mostly immune, but weak-willed people will have problems. ** Beltarne begins casting Effect Spirit on Thasos' meteor hammer ** GM: I think we're in combat here. ** Wolfgang shakes his head to clear it ** ** Thasos draws his meteor hammer, ready to pound the crap out of something. ** Thasos: ((has the effect on my hammer worn off already?)) GM: Thasos and he stumble out of range, and soon are the usual self. Shelley: It's +4, not -3 Beltarne: Major Healing (Holy) (15) [3d6.skill(15,1)] => [2,4,2] = 8 vs (16) or less Success! by 8 Includes: +4 from 'Power Investiture (Holy)' Marik: ((Wait what? They were winning, why'd they go?)) GM: Shelley doesn't spot any undead except the faun ghost. Shelley: So Success by 7 if I needed a check for Detect Undead. Shelley: They break down and flee after a certain percentage are beaten. Shelley: It was in the monster description I got last session from my Undead Lore check :D ** Marik waits for that heal, then begins looking for his arrows. Search? ** Beltarne: ((Kevin, you're up 8 HP)) ** Thasos points at Ghazeb, thumps his own chest, then slaps the knife-edge of his hand into his palm. ** GM: Make a Will roll before Searching if you go into the despair zone. Marik: ((Cheers)) ** Shelley limps over to the rest and tries to patch up poor Gamma and Beta. ** Marik: Will: [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [5,5,5] = 15 vs (12) or less Failure! by 3 Marik: Sigh. Shelley: Zombie (Deathly) (16) [3d6.skill(16,-3)] => [2,5,1] = 8 vs (13) or less Success! by 5 for [0] => 0 FP Ghazeb: "Thasos, I really don't want any sheep right now. Actually I do. Do you have any?" ** Shelley glares at the -3 ** Wolfgang: "Where did they go?" Shelley: Zombie (Deathly) (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => [3,2,6] = 11 vs (16) or less Success! by 5 for [0] => 0 FP GM: Marik, search roll at -5. GM: You can just pick up the silver arrow, of course. Marik: Search: [3d6.skill(16,-3-2+2)] => [4,1,2] = 7 vs (13) or less Success! by 6 ** Thasos opens his mouth to yell at Ghazeb, and hastily shuts it. He shakes his head. ** GM: Got all your arrows back then Marik. Beltarne: "Apparently they don't like being killed twice." Marik: ((+2 for acute vision - it was Vision-based last time.)) Wolfgang: "What about this one?" GM: Shelley's zombies recover [1d6] => [2] = (2) and [1d6] => [3] = (3) Shelley: "They're not gone forever. But we're breaking them down into smaller groups." Shelley: And they'll all be back tonight or tomorrow. Beltarne: "Former associate of Scydd's I believe." Shelley: Shelley: Izzis right? Beltarne: ((There a penalty to use First Aid on yourself?)) Wolfgang: "I mean should I hack at it some more or not" Beltarne: ((Cause there should be) GM: That's right, Shelley. GM: Beltarne, -5 for yourself. Beltarne: "Leave him be" Ghazeb: "Ghazeb will fix." [3d6.skill(10,1)] => [5,2,6] = 13 vs (11) or less Failure! by 2 ** Beltarne eyes the bandage critically. ** ** Shelley shouts at the mopey ghost. "Ho, sad and noble sir. What name were you known by in your days of glory?" ** GM: Beltarne heals 1 hit from Ghazeb's bandaging, which is sloppy. Beltarne: "Thank you my friend" ** Beltarne tightens some gauze ** GM: Well, shit, you have Spirit Empathy, huh? Roll Diplomacy. Shelley: Diplomacy (12) [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [3,2,4] = 9 vs (12) or less Success! by 3 Conditional: +2 from 'Charisma' when making Influence rolls Shelley: Yep. Comes up on occasion. Shelley: Not much point fast talking a zombie, but ghosts are handy. ** Thasos sits to rest. ** Despairing Ghost: "I... there was no glory. There was no nobility. All was lies. I thought myself to be the great Ewan Oaksilver, defender of the Light... but it was all lies." Shelley: "Who was the fiend who lied to you, Sir Oaksilver, to leave you so diminished?" Despairing Ghost: "It was the demons that proved the failure of the Light! I thought I could hold them back, I thought I could save these poor people. But it was all for naught. All is for naught. Darkness always comes." Marik: "Wait, where was White Pines, again?" Beltarne: "North, in the mountains. Scydd and his companions were slain by a horde of demons summoned by Samuel, I believe." Shelley: "Darkness always comes, Sir Oaksilver, but the Light always stands against it. We are here to drive it back again, with your blessings Sir!" ** Shelley stands up and flourishes her holy symbol proudly. ** Shelley: (( why yes, I remembered to buy one. )) Marik: ((A necromancer with a holy symbol, that is /awesome/.)) Despairing Ghost: "There is no hope. There are no blessings. Darkness always comes." Shelley: (( necroTECHNICIAN thank you. )) ** Beltarne gawks at Shelly for having a holy symbol that isn't a crucified kitten or something. ** Shelley: My kingdom for an Extasy spell and my Spirit Empathy. Despairing Ghost: "We were betrayed into the darkness. No matter how we strive, the Lightsworn will always be betrayed. Darkness..." Shelley: "Name your betrayer! Don't let him cower in shadow, Sir Oaksilver!" Wolfgang: "Gah, so gloomy, no wonder they lost." Despairing Ghost: "Davin? He doesn't cower in the shadow. He made his bargain and now he pays the price eternal. Life eternal. Pain eternal." He considers... "His continued life is proof of the unjustice. I strived, but died! He betrayed, but lives!" Beltarne: "Where is he, Sir Oaksilver?" Despairing Ghost: "Does it matter? No, he is imprisoned eternal, beyond your reach."
