Detroit Motor Company is the largest manufacturer of automobiles in North America. The company is headquartered in Detroit, North American Commonwealth and was founded by Frank Pine in 2038. The "Big Three" automakers of the former United States of America were General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. After the collapse of the United States, many of the automakers suffered. The factories were eventually sold off, and some had been repurposed. Over a period of three years, beginning in 2038, Pine purchased each of the three automakers, gaining access to their wealth of intellectual property and their large manufacturing capacity.

Over a period of three years, beginning in 2038, Pine purchased each of the three automakers, gaining access to their wealth of intellectual property and their large manufacturing capacity. An IPO was held in 2041, that provided Pine with the capital to overhaul the aging factories and build a state-of-the-art production line. Detroit Motor Company quickly dominated the North American Commonwealth marketplace, and soon expanded to dealerships in the other North American nations.
