In September 2006 the value of the SSAR was demonstrated upon the death of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin(note that he actually preserves wildlife rather than kill it aimlessly, unlike most hunters). At the time of his death Irwin was Australia's most recognised stereotype and, as such, his loss could have had a devastating effect on the Australian Economy.
