The match was originally scheduled to take place at Glory by Honor VIII: The Final Countdown, but was moved up a night after it was announced that McGuinness had signed with WWE and would also be leaving at Glory by Honor VIII, and ROH officials decided to book McGuinness and Danielson against each other for their final match.
