| - As she walks away, her looks choke my throat. I never wanted to see her upset, much less leave in a fit of rage. Talon extends her wing to my shoulder, and I carefully acknowledge her. She's grown a lot since we found her, even though it was about a week ago. She looks distressed, and I turn away, mad at myself for making Lapis mad and Talon upset. The atmosphere is crawling with airlines Talon follows me. "You okay?" She's gotten better. "No. I made Lapis upset, and that wasn't what I wanted." She pokes me with a claw. "Turn." ~ Relax your back and let the noise sing you to sleep in my arms. ~ "Yes."

I glance back at her, and she angles her wings towards herself. "Know you're upset. Know you like her lot." I feel my pride for her understanding, but guilt that she's so observant. "True." I smack her with my tail, and I can't help but smile. "You're getting a lot better." ~ Relax your back and let the noise sing you to sleep in my arms. She nods and says one word. "Wait." "For her?" She nods, and angles her wing towards a rock, launching into the air a moment later. Talon seems bored. "I'll be back." I notice how she speaks and how confident she sounds. She leaves and I sit on the rock, thinking about Lapis. ~ The scent is strong as we move on and breathe in the pristine crime scene. Lapis. Her name rings in my mind. Lapis, I'm sorry. I lay out an apology. I've figured that if she'll listen...maybe I can tell her... Talon comes back soon. She whistles a tune, and it's quite pretty. She drops a mouse at my side. "Here." "What are you singing?" I blurt out suddenly, and almost immediately regret it. She stares at me. "Heard a song. Very pretty." "...You can sing, right?" "Yes." "Please, Talon, do me a favor, and start singing." She sings, and we wait.
