| - Paula Wilcox was born on 13th December 1949 in Manchester. When she was 17 and at the National Youth Theatre, she was chosen by Granada Television to star in Jack Rosenthal’s The Lovers, playing the girlfriend of Richard Beckinsale. While the series was at scripting stage, she played the role of Janice Langton, Ray's sister for five episodes in January and February 1969. The Lovers eventually ran for thirteen episodes, with a movie following, and helped establish Paula as a familiar face on television. Greater success followed when, in 1973 she was cast as one of the three leads in the popular sit-com Man About the House.
