  • LOVEppears was released less than a year after her debut album A Song for XX. Between February and August 1999, she released 5 singles of which two were million-sellers. Then 3 other singles (which were limited) were released due the high demand of the public. The song "P.S II" is a follow-up to "Poder Snow" from Hamasaki's previous album A Song for XX. The song features a new arrangement and new lyrics. The remix of "WHATEVER" is an extended version of the "M" version of the song, which originally appeared on the "Whatever" CD single. This album marked the beginning of the collaboration between Hamasaki DAI and HAL. Songs: Although not billed as such some of the singles on LOVEppears were somehow edited for the album. "Love: Refrain" takes its melody from Hamasaki's single "Love: Destiny", but has different lyrics, whereas the song "Whatever" is an extended version of the "M" version of "Whatever" from the eponymous single. A hidden track, "kanariya", is found at the end of the first disc. It is her first recut single (single released after its appearance on an album) to reach the number-one position on the Oricon charts. The song "Who..." is a concert staple for Hamasaki, who ends most of her concerts with it. Commercial tie-ups and theme song: "To Be", "Immature", "Trauma" and "Monochrome" were used in four commercials featuring Ayu herself of the JT Peach Water drinks. "Boys & Girls", "And then..." and "appears" were images songs in three commercial for AUBE cosmetics. "Too Late" was the musical theme for a commercial for HONDA Giorno CREA scooters. "Fly High" was used in TV ad for Lycos Japan.
