Russia is the largest nation on Earth. It wants to add Georgia to its territory but has faced major opposition from the EU, especially France, Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as Georgia itself. It also seem to want to add Lithuania recently. During Vladimir Putin's acting President regime, he launched another invasion of Georgia on 23 September 2008. By 14 November Russia managed to conquer Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Three days later Putin was assassinated and Medvedev became acting President. Following this, the Russian Presidential Election campaigns begun.
