Surface Transit, Incorporated was an operator of buses in the boroughs of Manhattan and The Bronx from 1956 to 1962. Surface Transit was the successor to Surface Transportation Corporation of New York as the operator of its routes, but in fact was a newly established company in 1956. It was a subsidiary of Fifth Avenue Coach Lines, Incorporated, which in fact was a 1956 renaming of the former New York City Omnibus Corporation.
