Vaccares was put in command of PNS Forerunner, originally an Andermani light cruiser called IANS Alant. When Forerunner and the battlecruiser Vanguard attacked a Manticoran convoy, they were attacked by both the heavy cruiser HMS Fearless and the merchantman RMMS Dorado, the latter of which destroyed Vanguard by colliding their impeller wedges. Forerunner tried to flee the system, but IANS Neue Bayern intercepted and threatened to destroy the ship. Vaccares then surrendered his vessel. (HHA4.2: WOS)
