Gresko was drafted by the Melbourne Eagles in 1918, being taken 14th in the third round and being drafted 46th overall. After spending time in the minor leagues, he played his first full season in 1924 with the Arkham Tigers after being traded by Melbourne in a six-player trade. In 1926, he would be traded to North Lambton. In 1926, he signed a three-year extension with North Lambton for ƒ17,600 per year. Later that year, he would be traded to Tulipstad who would later trade Gresko to Tasmanstad in 1927. After signing the first in a series of contracts with Tasmanstad, Gresko became a long-time fixture of the Explorers middle infield. After being released by Tasmanstad in 1934, Gresko finished his career with a rief run in Wanganui before retiring in Arkham in 1938.

During his career, Gresko won four World Championships, three with Tasmanstad (1928, 1931, 1933) and one with Wanganui (1935). His performance in the 1928 World Championships earned him MVP of the series. Gresko’s slick fielding earned him seven Gold Gloves. A consistent hitter, Gresko was noted for his 32 Game Hitting Streak in 1931 and holds the Single Season Hits Record (265 - 1926 North Lambton)
