Gorgonius was a pagan villager outside the city of Thessalonica, one of the few Greeks to continue to worship the Greek pantheon after several centuries of Christianity as the dominant Greek religion. Gorgonius helped George defeat the Slavic army by lending him the Cap of Perseus, which imparted invisibility on its wearer. Gorgonius was a direct descendant of Perseus.
