The CUW Vetar, under the command of Gul Aman Evek, with Glinn Telak as executive officer, was a ship of the Fourth Order that became a common fixture on the Cardassian side of the Demilitarized Zone following the Federation-Cardassian Treaty. (TNG: "Journey's End") The placement of Telak as XO is derived from the Star Trek: Sigils and Unions understanding of the rank of "glinn." The Vetar was present at the initial Federation transfer of control of Dorvan V to the Cardassian Union. In 2371, the Vetar took heavy damage while chasing a Maquis vessel through the Badlands--but narrowly missed being thrown by the Caretaker Array into the Delta Quadrant with the USS Voyager and their Maquis quarry. (VOY: "Caretaker, Part I") The Vetar was named for a revolutionary figure from the time of the Cataclysm on Cardassia Prime. Kelor Vetar was a government official who broke with the administration that appointed him, in protest of the government's sluggish, uncoordinated response to the climatological disaster. Vetar's protests inspired other revolutionaries, including a young Tret Akleen. While Vetar had used nonviolent tactics, Akleen claimed his speeches as inspiration for his own--far more violent--protest. Akleen's activities eventually led to the creation of the Cardassian Union; Vetar, too, was memorialized accordingly. (Star Trek: Sigils and Unions--"Point of Divergence")

Picard und Evek entscheiden darauf, dass die Indianer auf dem Planeten bleiben dürfen, dafür aber keine Bürger der Föderation mehr sind.
