Jace Merv was a male human New Republic officer around 10 ABY, operating out of a base on Altyr V. Merv served as the outpost's second in command, following the base's Commander, Elan Shepard. During an Imperial attack on the base, Merv kept in constant contact with the base's perimeters and with a remote outpost on Delta 3. From Delta 3 he learned that a much larger Imperial force was on the way to backup the already attacking forces, and they would arrive within three hours of the initial attack. Jedi Knight and former Rebel agent Kyle Katarn however offered to perform a solo mission that would lead to the destruction of two Imperial weapons disguised as asteroids that were pinning down evacuation ships. However, no sooner had Katarn left on his mission, Ops was overrun by Imperial force

| - Jace Merv was a male human New Republic officer around 10 ABY, operating out of a base on Altyr V. However, no sooner had Katarn left on his mission, Ops was overrun by Imperial forces who had drilled through a wall. Shepard and Katarn's temporary apprentice Mara Jade left Ops to find a medical bay after Shepard was injured by debris flung from the impact of a rail detonator. Merv stayed behind however to fend off Imperial troops, eventually receiving Katarn's aid when the Jedi returned to Ops. Katarn's mission eventually proved successful and the weapons were destroyed, allowing the New Republic forces to evacuate the planet before the more dominating Imperial force arrived. After the battle Merv joined the crew of Shepard's flagship, a Corellian corvette known as Sarlacc's Regret.
