CSS rules can be inserted into individual HTML tags or implemented as an internally- or externally-sourced stylesheet definition. CSS is used in conjunction with HTML to add formatting to the document's presentation. Current standards for both CSS and HTML can be found in the W3C specification.

- Cascading Style Sheets is a style sheet language used to describe the presentation display of a document written in a markup language, like HTML. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but CSS can also be applied to any kind of XML document. CSS specifies a priority scheme to determine which style rules apply if more than one rule matches against a particular element. In this so-called cascade, priorities or weights are calculated and assigned to rules, so that the results are predictable.

Wenn man einen 100Linien langen HTML Text schreibt, wobei man immer wieder style tags angeben muss wird es einem sicher bald zu blöd werden. Und gerade da kommt CSS ins spiel; Man macht eine neue seite auf verlinkt die beiden Seiten. Und dann muss man nicht mal mehr die style angaben in der HTML seite schreiben. Man schreibt sie einfach auf der CSS seite. Erstaunlich Was? Das würde dann so z.B ausschauen: header { border: 1px solid #0000ff; background-color: #ff0000; margin-right: 15px; margin-left: 15px;
