I'm a breastfeeding mother of my 3 year-old girl. I was wondering if there are other mothers out there who still breastfeed their children who are older than one. I would like to chat with some mothers who feel the same way I do. I feel there's a big stigma put on women who breastfeed late postpartum. I'm wondering how you can get away from this stigma. Is it such a bad thing? I'm pretty sure there's nothing detrimental about it in terms of health to you and the baby. So what's the big deal? I would be interested in talking to other women who feel the same way I do. And perhaps we could talk about the reasons why this issue exists in our society.

Look forward to hearing other people's opinions. I still nurse my 27 month old before bed each night. I nursed my daughter till she was 26 months and weaned only when she was able to understand and agree to it - saying, "tonight a bottle, tomorrow mama milk..." and even "tonight a bottle, the next night a bottle, and then mama milk." My son is nowhere near that verbal (or sophisticated). I think we'll be nursing for some while longer. Because we nurse at night, we don't face stigma. I know other moms who still nurse their 3 and 4 year olds in public. But the circles we travel in are positive about that - (attachment parenting, liberal, educated, in the boston area).
