- A Crystal Sword is a type of sword in Diablo II. It is one of the first weapons available to the player that is capable of getting six sockets (although only swords dropped from Nightmare Outer Cloister and on can actually spawn with that many), and has the lowest requirements out of all weapons that do, making it a popular choice for runewords or other socketing strategies that doesn't involve physically attacking (Spirit Rune Word for casting, Call to Arms Rune Word for prebuffing, six Ist Runes for Magic Finding, et cetera). As far as hitting enemies is concerned, however, the low durability of this weapon can be quite troubling.
- The Crystal Sword is a sword with a blade made from translucent, white to blue crystal. It is a powerful weapon that ordinarily deals slashing damage and supports all common technics. Additionally, it can both block magic damage and deal damage to the MP pool of what it hits. Doing either of these will, wherein the MP of blocked spells is counted, rather than the damage, cause the blade to become increasingly "ethereal" and transparent and to deal increasing portions of its damage as non-elemental, rather than slashing. The implication is that the material of the sword is not just any crystal, but rather the same magic-absorbent crystal from which Crystal Golems are also made, and which has recently been revealed to be called "Cryna".
- The sword is capable of absorbing the souls and powers of other individuals. When in their possession, the warrior can call it toward him and is granted immunity to the weapons of man. The Crystal Sword is the only weapon capable of harming the Lords of War and can be used to kill them. When a warrior is stabbed with his own sword, both he and the sword are destroyed.
- In Tales of the Unknown, the Crystal Sword can be found in the first level of Baron Harkyn's Castle. A special monster, the Jabberwock, has to be killed first. The Crystal Sword is a formidable blade in its own right, but it is also the only weapon that can kill the Crystal Golem in Kylearan's Tower. The Crystal Sword can be wielded by a Warrior, Paladin, Bard, or Hunter.
