The Imperial platebody is a platebody made of runite and Steel. This item can be bought from Trey after completing the Diplomat quest, the Grand Exchange in Varrock, or from other players. The platebody will degrade by one level after being taken a total of 15,000 damage and will degrade down to a maximum of 5 levels. Players cannot make this item with the Smithing skill nor repair a degraded one. To restore a degraded platebody, a player must not be in a combat situation with the armour on. Leaving it in the bank or wearing it while doing skills or less combat quests will work. Players cannot wear this item until they have completed the Diplomat quest and have 80 Defence or above.

Imperial platebodies have slightly higher stats than a Dharok's platebody. But the Dharok's platebody is still much more popular among RuneScape players as it cheaper and easier to acquire. The Imperial platebody actually requires 91 defence to wear as it is the only piece in the armour set which has a quest completion prerequisite. The Diplomat quest which requires 91 Defence is required to wear only the platebody. The armour and its other components are a favorite among the richer, more-experienced players when it comes to PvP as it has a fairly good strength and prayer boost.
