- ICSD Board of Education Resolution WHEREAS, students and staff are entitled to a safe school environment that is well-maintained; and WHEREAS, the Ithaca City School District (ICSD) Board of Education (BOE) has approved a major facilities bond resolution consisting of two propositions that include renovation projects at all our schools and bus garagae and building additions at three of our schools; and WHEREAS, these projects include but are not limited to: roofs, HVAC systems, electrical upgrades, window replacements and building additions; and WHEREAS,the plans and architectural drawings for these projects have not yet reached the design stage; and WHEREAS, there has been significant community interest in environmental sustainability and energy conservation; and WHEREAS, school districts should employ design, construction and operation stategies that minimize facilities operating costs and maximize energy efficiciency without compromising educational programs; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Education of the City School District of the City of Ithaca as follows: That the District will integrate NYSERDA programs into district building plans and operations wherever appropriate; and That integrated building design techniques will be, where applicable, a part of the design phase of each project with the intent to build and/or renovate following the NYS Collaborative for HIgh Performance Schools (CHPS) standard.
