About: Dune Fractures   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

Interacting with the dune fractures grants players Runecrafting or Mining experience. Free players are able to redeem bonus experience in these two skills, but only from sand dunes. There are two types of dunes: A large dune, found north of the Lumbridge Crater, and small dunes, found at various places throughout Gielinor. Small dunes give 20% more experience than large dunes. However, their locations vary every 15 minutes while the large dune is always found near the Lumbridge Crater. This uses bonus experience, even in free servers, unless the player is in Ironman Mode.

Mending dunes also earns progress towards rewards of Sand Dive and Mining Away teleport animations, which are unlocked separately by gaining Runecrafting and Mining experience at the dunes, respectively. Players have a daily amount of fatigue which limits how long they may mend dunes for each day (500). The amount of fatigue a player has can be checked while at a dune. Consumable Dune menders which can be won from Treasure Hunter give extra 25 progress each. To obtain both the teleport animations you need a total of 4000 progress, and without the use of Dune menders, only one of these can be obtained. 2 Dune menders can be claimed from Cat Craft, but to get both the teleport animations others 38 dune menders must be won from Treasure Hunter. Logging in during the promotion prompts the message Something strange is happening north of the Lumbridge crater. A lady name Cat is in need of your help.. After the main event ended, the Large Dune remained usable with dune menders for one day. Cat Craft was also available during this time.
