Medonte Township was located in northern Simcoe County. The fire department was formed in the 1970s. In 1994, the municipalities of Simcoe County were restructured and Oro was amalgamated with adjoining Medonte Township. The fire department became part of Oro-Medonte Township Fire and Emergency Services, although the boundaries were changed such that the community of Hillsdale ended up in Springwater Township and the fire hall there transferred to Springwater Township Fire and Emergency Services.
