Shaw Street was the site of a conversion of a house into flats undertaken by the building firm partnership of Bill Webster, Jim McDonald and son Steve, who bought into the firm using £15,000 from his uncontested divorce from Victoria Arden. The work, undertaken on behalf of a Mr Slater of property firm Marshall Loveday, went well during the four-months it took to do the job but ended up on a sour note when Steve discovered that Jim had slept with his ex-girlfriend Fiona Middleton and walked out on the business, having seen the conversion through to the end.
