  • Since this time, Indignation has become a standard addition to most of the Tales games, usually appearing as a standard third-tier spell. In Tales of Eternia, this spell can be extended as a mystic arte, but this can be done only once in any full playthrough, during the battle with the Greater Craymel of Time, Sekundes. The resulting scene is a cameo of the opening scene from Tales of Phantasia, with the same full incantation and a duplicate reaction by Sekundes, finishing the battle with a one-hit kill. The English localization cut out Sekundes's voice from this scene, so it appears as a monologue for whoever casts the spell extension instead. Shizel can also cast the spell, with her incantation being a pun on the similarity between the Japanese words kami, meaning "deity", and yami, mean

Shizel can also cast the spell, with her incantation being a pun on the similarity between the Japanese words kami, meaning "deity", and yami, meaning "darkness". In Tales of Symphonia, Genis Sage is capable of using Indignation to activate the mystic arte Indignation Judgement, while Over Limit mode is active. In Symphonia's sequel, Indignation itself is used as both a normal spell and a mystic arte for Genis. It is also the "Second Movement" for a Lightning-elemental monster ally's Unison Attack. In Tales of Legendia, Indignation is the most powerful Thunder-elemental spell in the game, but it is not a very powerful spell overall, dealing rather less damage than most of the other Crystal Eres in the game. It can be learned by both Will Raynard and Shirley Fennes, although Shirley's version has a larger range, higher base damage, and pink hue. In Tales of the Abyss, Indignation is used as Jade Curtiss's second mystic arte, but it is available only if a cleared save game file exists on the memory card. If this restriction is met, Indignation can be used at any point in the game, on any save file on the same memory card, if all other in-game conditions are met. It is also the arte he used to take out the Liger Queen in the animated adaptation. Rita Mordio similarly gains Indignation as her second mystic arte in the PlayStation 3 release of Tales of Vesperia. She unlocks this mystic arte by re-enacting the opening to Tales of Phantasia: in the "200-Man Melee", if she casts Thunder Blade while in Over Limit 4 against Dhaos, when he is at half HP or below, the spell will instantly kill him and Indignation will be unlocked for future use. She has to have used Thunder Blade at least 200 times. In Tales of Zestiria, this arte is used by the Armatized Heldalf at certain points during his boss battle. He begins charging the arte, drawing an elaborate crest in the air. If the party does not successfully deal enough damage, he will unleash a maelstrom of lightning that guarantees the party's defeat. If the party succeeds, however, Heldalf is stunned and open to special mystic artes needed to continue the story. Heldalf will attempt Indignation four times in total. In Tales of Berseria, this arte is used by Laphicet as his third mystic arte. Upon activating the spell, he floats in the air while a blue and white magical circle forms in the sky above him and a black and dark purple magical circle forms below the target. After this, two small orbs enter the magical circle in the sky and ignite a tremendous thunder to strike down and explode on the target after Laphicet releases the magic in his hand. In the Japanese versions of the games with this spell, the spell name has been rendered with different katakana characters throughout the history of the series. All versions of Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon use (インデグニション Indegunishon?) to represent this spell. The original Tales of Destiny also uses this same format, but the remake versions use the current (インディグネイション Indiguneishon?) form. Every other game in this series uses this current form for the Indignation spell.
