  • Paths of Enlightenment are sets of behavioral and ethical guidelines. Newly-created vampires automatically begin with the Path of Humanity, conventional human morality that carries over from the time of mortality. Some vampires spend centuries reconciling these ingrained notions of human decency with their own alien hunger and murderous impulses. Others, knowing that to abandon all ethics is to degenerate into a mindless monster, adopt distinctly alien philosophies that make allowances for the vampire's inner darkness. This psycho-spiritual is achieved either post-traumaticly (in the case of the Sabbat), after great personal quests and trials (in the case of pre- or non-Sabbat vampires), or during the mortal's formative years (in the case of True Black Hand abductees).
