Desiring to anger the Nymean Ascendancy and further the split between them and the Order of Sovereignty, Valentine ordered a large portion of his fleet to attack the system. When his fleet came out of hyperspace, the Nymean Admiral Erstis realized the fight was hopeless and ordered a retreat.

When his fleet came out of hyperspace, the Nymean Admiral Erstis realized the fight was hopeless and ordered a retreat. The Darkness fleet managed to catch three frigates and a capital ship and either capture or destroy them. With the Nymean fleet gone, Sirius landed troops and captured the colonists. Molnek and his men captured almost 7500 crewmen from the damaged ships. Before leaving, Valentine ordered that some prisoners and colonists be executed in a gruesome way as a sign to the Nymeans. Rannek rounded up 200 prisoners and massacred them and left their bodies in a pit to be found.
