Mauretania was a North African Province which made a name for itself during the First Enlightenment of 1076 (323 AD). Governor Bacarius Mentelus expaned the freedoms of Mauretania and made it one of the most economically booming Provinces in the Empire. Mauretania started out with a borer level with its neighbors but after their great surge of money and investment the Mauretanians invested in an irrigation project to bring fertility into the Desertum Africanum. That is why Mauretania juts out into the desert an its neighbors do not.
