| Synopsis
| - In his penthouse located in New York City, Adam Strange dawns his rocket suit to intercept the next Zeta-Beam. He intercepts it just over Cape Town, South Africa, however instead of being transported to Rann, he finds himself transported to the planet Xalthor instead. There he is greeted by a being named Ulthoon. Ulthoon explains that his planet is to explode within the hour and he's going to trap Adam Strange there so that he can take over the planet Rann. With Adam's weapons ineffectual against him, Ulthoon leaves Adam behind to die on the doomed planet.
Adam manages to escape when he realizes that Xalthor is closer to the planet Rann than Earth and that he can intercept the next pass of the beam before it reaches Earth. He manages to do so, narrowly avoiding being destroyed by the space debris launched into space from the exploding Xalthor.
Arriving on Rann, Adam is once again greeted by Alanna who explains that Ulthoon arrived on Rann and began destroying cities with a tornado making ship. Strange organizes a counter attack, but finds that all the weapons they fire at the ship don't effect it. Finally Adam realizes the truth: That the entity known as Ulthoon and the ship he is flying in aren't real, but only a mental construct, that their real enemy is actually the tornado which is alive. He orders everyone to fire at the tornado, and it is soon destroyed.
With the Tornado Tyrant defeated, Adam and Alanna take some much needed R&R time, however one day while sail skiing on the Sea of Abyx, the Zeta-Beam wears off and Adam is sent back to Earth.
