Sir James Galway (b. 1939) is an Irish flute player. In Sesame Street’s 13th season, Galway appeared in a segment with Big Bird. In another segment, described by the New York Times, he and Maria perform "in formal attire, he on his famous flute and she on an inflatable toy that makes no sound until its air is forced out when the artists take their bow."
