- The Northern Continent is a bit of a misnomer, since about half of the continent is a long peninsula extending past the equator. But because more of the continent is in the northern hemisphere than any of the others, it has been deemed the "northern-most continent." This continent is home to the FIMBA organization, and is known for its rich history, both ancient and recent.

It's geography is divided into five regions: The Autumn Region, the Storm Region, the Northern Forest, the Lower Tundra, and the Upper Tundra. The continent is barely populated and has a pre-steampunk/clockpunk theme in the two countries. It's Cultures differ greatly from the culture of most other continents.
- The Northern Continent was a large landmass in the Matoran Universe. It was located north of the Southern Continent and the Pit, but south of Karzahni, Zakaz, and Metru Nui. The Tren Krom Peninsula was attached to the Northern Continent. The Continent had many Makuta assigned to it, because it was too large for just one Makuta to watch over. The Northern Continent was mainly inhabited by Ko-Matoran, Ta-Matoran, Le-Matoran and De-Matoran, although other types of Matoran may have inhabited it as well.

- The northern continent is a land viewed as an unpleasant place to live by most. It's climate, especially that of the upper regions, is harsh and unforgiving. There are two countries in it, as well as a gigantic northern expanse that is sparsely inhabited. In the western country, most of the population live on the storm region, and in the city Lunaris. This country is known for its technology, which works mainly by gears. It is also feared for it's military power. In Zanthium, the adjacent eastern country, most people live in the Autumn Region. The capital city and surrounding towns have pre-steampunk technology, a lot of which works by using pipes. The Northern Frontier is mostly unpopulated, yet very large. It is home to only mining and logging settlements and the occasional hunting lodge. Using this continent is recommended only to people who really know what they're doing.

The Northern Continent was mainly inhabited by Ko-Matoran, Ta-Matoran, Le-Matoran and De-Matoran, although other types of Matoran may have inhabited it as well. On the far southern side of the continent lies the Tren Krom Peninsula which was the former home of both Vultraz, Mazeka and Krakua. Nidhiki also lived on the continent at one point, although not on the Tren Krom Peninsula. After Makuta Teridax's death at the hands of Mata Nui, the inhabitants of the continent relocated to Spherus Magna.
