Japan or Yamato was an insular nation off the east coast of Asia, but was subverted by the Orthodox Empire and Zhongguo in the late 1700's. For the 1800's and early 1900's the Chinese ruled with an iron fist, but in 1916 the Japanese revolted against the Ming dynasty with much of the Han lands, and asserted themselves as a nation again, under the name of Edo. Edo is still commonly referred to as Japan in international affairs.
