The 1948-30 was a Modified Tour event held at Columbus Speedway on July 25, 1948. In a tragic turn of events eventual season champ Red Byron blew a tire and crashed into the spectator stand, injuring sixteen and killing one. Billy Carden won the shortened race, his first series victory.
