PC Blakey was a bearded police officer who stopped a Rolls Royce for doing 75mph on a 50mph country road in May 1974. Stan Ogden was driving in place of the chauffeur, Sandy Pirie, who had joined travellers Tommy Deakin and Michael Ryan in a wine drinking session on their way home from the races. While he had also been drinking, lifelong beer lover Stan had claimed that alcohol had no effect on him - a fact he was happy to boast about to the constable. Blakey then breathalysed Stan and, when the crystal turned green, he was taken to the police station, where he was charged with speeding, DUI and driving with an out-of-date licence.
