  • This is one of those questions that keeps getting asked time and again with no clear answer until you go through it yourself. Here we go. For those who haven't. At some point you find out about 'Kleen' products. There is Kleen green and Kleen free and others. Do they work? Sure, for some people. Why not for others? Do they work for a while then stop working? Some people say so. How does Kleen work? These types of chemicals break down oils. They are not insecticides. They do not kill insects directly. Usually. Their job is to clean up oil by breaking it down. When applied to mites the main action is that the protective coating around the mite starts to be broken down. The mite then should moult the outer layer so it can build a new one. At this time the mite is vulnerable to attack and can die more easily from other factors. Combined with microfiber clothes and other methods mites are cleaned up more easily. In a bucket of hot water they drown. Why can't we just spray Kleen everywhere and dissolve them all? You can. Kleen is expensive. Unless you make your own spraying it everywhere undiluted is a waste. Not diluting it is a waste as it is as effective up a ratio of 1 part Kleen to 5 parts water. It is not a miracle cure. It doesn't knock them down. It might stop them from biting. It may help control them when sprayed as a mist on carpet. You can't just spray Kleen everywhere on all surfaces every day and expect the problem to be fixed. Although, done right, that might work. For most it won't as this problem requires a multipronged attack. The Kleen is part of your arsenal. Use it properly and with care and it will help greatly.
