Thankfully, due to the efforts of Doc and Marty, this robbery ended up never happening in the first place. * 2015: Biff Tannen stole the DeLorean time machine.

It is possible to access the Safe in the back of a Store after Store hours either by kicking down the door, or opening the door normally before the Store is closed. When a door is kicked in, an alarm goes off and Notoriety increases. Originally, Theft was an activity which was to have been started by visiting the On The Fence pawn shops in each area, then proceeding to certain Stores to steal boxes and bring them back to On The Fence. Bringing the wrong box would not be accepted by the Fence. There would also have been Rival Thieves from other gangs trying to get the boxes.

(TAS: "The Slaver Weapon") Captain James T. Kirk and his crew were charged with theft after commandeering the USS Enterprise in order to retrieve Captain Spock from the Genesis Planet in 2286. The charge was eventually dismissed by the President of the Federation. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home) Berlinghoff Rasmussen committed numerous thefts of small objects on the USS Enterprise-D in 2368. The stolen objects included a tricorder and a phaser. His intention was to return to 22nd century New Jersey in a time travel pod he had stolen, and to then claim to have invented the items, in order to make a profit. His plans were thwarted by the Enterprise crew. Odo later recounted these events to Worf, as an example of a security breach under his tenure as security chief. (TNG: "A Matter of Time" ; DS9: "Bar Association") Odo often suspected Quark of acts of theft on Deep Space 9. He once told Quark that he would miss his "aggravation, the petty theft, the bad manners," while Deep Space 9 was being evacuated in 2370. (DS9: "The Siege") Miles O'Brien told his wife Keiko, in 2371, that a case of medical supplies had been stolen from the Infirmary. It is a crime. A similar tort is conversion, which covers a much larger range of fact situations. Most criminal statutes set a lower limit for the value of stolen items that constitutes anindictable offence or felony. For example, in Canada, that value is $5,000 CDN. Theft of items below that threshold may be treated as a mere summary conviction offence or misdemeanour, although many statutes allow the prosecuting counsel to elect to choose to proceed by indictment instead.
